The key thing happened - I bought a flight on Virgin for £500 instead of £977 and it was real… now I don't know about their customer service and I am assuming it's terrible from the reviews, but if you are buying a non-refundable ticket and intend to board the flight it works!!!

Atrocious
Atrocious! Do not use! I booked a flight, paid and received confirmation only to then find that my domestics flights were not even booked! Sent me an email to say this will be resolved in 24-48 hours. Nothing was resolved, received no calls/emails to say that they have not been able to confirm flights. It was not until I called them after 3 days for them to give me the option of getting a refund!! Annoyed!

Refundable/cancellation fees
Staff over the phone were unable to tell me if a flight was refundable before booking. I wanted to double check this as this flight was £1300! I advised their website said to contact them regarding cancellation fees and I was told I could only be given this information after I have a flight booked. Staff could not understand what I was asking them. A very difficult experience and I am having to purchase elsewhere, which is a shame because this was the cheapest flight for my trip.

my flight was non-changeable & non refundable but I did get a refund :)
I had a flight from manchester to jfk, but my american student visa didn't come in time so I had to cancel my flight. When I booked the flight it said it was non changeable and non refundable but I rang up anyway just to try my luck. Anyway, I had to pay a £75 cancellation fee(I expected that) but I received a good chunk of my flight money back within a few days. The guy on the phone was really helpful and all round I had a good experience.

1 star is one too many
1 star is one too many. I booked a refundable flight back from America and later had to cancel it as my plans had changed. I was in touch with student universe as soon as I realized I couldn't take the flight. I have been unable to get a refund, just told that non refundable and if I pay £75 then they can give me some flight credit, which I will not be able to use as it is so restrictive and has to be used almost immediately. DO NOT TRUST
Edit: after posting this I have been told that my flight was non refundable despite me booking it as refundable.

Spoke to Nicole today about cancelling…
Spoke to Nicole today about cancelling a flight, she was amazing. She confirmed every detail with me to make sure I understand fully how the cancellation process worked and any fees that needed to be charged. Definitely using student universe again.

Short wait times and helpful customer service
Reading the reviews before I booked I was fearful… especially when I came down with covid 19 2 days before my flight and had to reach out to them for support and a refund. To my surprise the call wait time was only a few mins (which is amazing compared to other competitors) and the call agents were all very helpful. In the end I was able to get a refund minus some fees (to be expected as I didn't pay extra for cancellations) and they followed up with written communication too. Will give it 5 stars once the refund hits my bank account but overall very impressed and would use them again.

The WORST company I have ever…
The WORST company I have ever experienced. They do not disclose all costs when booking on their website. The customer service staff are rude and not helpful, and put you on hold wasting hours of your day. No apologies or compensation offered. A waste of my money. I booked through them to save money as a STUDENT, but they have ended up charging me more than any other website. The employees at the helpdesk had the nerve to then tell me it was "just another £100" as if this amount is nothing to them!!!!!!

Proceed with extreme caution
Proceed with extreme caution. Serving the interests of the airlines, not their customers. Our flight was cancelled for 'operational reasons' and we tried, unsuccessfully through Student Universe, to get a refund. We had to pay for another flight. They made no effort at all to help us and the whole experience left a very bad taste, not to mention £700 out of pocket. No integrity. Verging on criminal behaviour

The worst customer service ever!!
The worst customer service ever! Have been requesting a refund for almost two years. Multiple calls and emails and promised help every time but no one ever gets back to you. It is disgusting to charge this much for flights and when they are canceled refuse to help refund the person! Do not book flights through them!

Horrendous customer service and…
Horrendous customer service and company. They lure you in with all of these add-ons and 'cheap flights' but are so far out of pocket, its better to book with the most expensive airline. Providing fake reasons why an airline has a change fee but in reality when you call the airline there is no fee. Additionally, they limit you to a select few flights that are the most expensive on the airline website.

wife and daughter had to book a hotel because studentunivere booked them on a flight that brexit rules meant they couldn't take. Have emailed studentuniverse twice, to date, there has been no reply. they left two females vulnerable.A shoddy and unsafe company - proceed with caution.

Worst service ever
Worst service ever ,
I booked flight for my employee they then asked for confirmation of my card details and Id etc , I provide all they asked , then I was told they cancelled the booking as they could not Check, although I sent everything requested!
Left my money pending in my account for a week to 10 days.
Stay away from this company

First Impression
I booked the flight ticket from Indonesia to UK last month via Student Universe website and it was actually the first time. I was surprised because the price was cheaper compared to the price of flight tickets on other websites. So, I am really satisfied and happy. Besides, when I cancelled my flight with Qatar Airways, they returned my refund in just less than a month. Hopefully, they will keep the good work !

Disappointed
The reason why I booked with Student Universe is because they looked like a trustworthy website. However, upon booking my flight and paying for premium customer service, I had to call the company several times in order to find out about the cancellation of my original flight and the rescheduled one. I have also had to chase them up several times regarding the refund towards this flight and nothing has been done to resolve this issue. I am extremely disappointed in the company.

I have been waiting for a year to be refunded for a cancelled ticket! I keep being told by Student Universe that the ticket was 'taken over' by Qatar and told by Qatar that Student Universe is responsible. Nobody is making any effort to sort this out for me despite literally dozens of phone calls backwards and forwards!

Efficient complaint procedure
I booked 2 flights with Student Universe, paid, credit card debit. But I didn't received any e-mail confirmation from SU. A few days later I received upgrade offers from airline LATAM, so provided Email was correct.
After raising a complaint with SU they reacted within 48 hours providing the missing data. Very positive customer experience.

Very misleading when searching for flights
Very misleading when searching for flights on search engines as they appear on every search as cheapest but dont state its for students only, i asked them to state students on every search about a year ago but guy was just very rude on the phone and it looks as if they still have not made any changes.
Beware you will be able to book and pay for flights etc and the booking will be cancelled a week or so later without any warning.

Great at taking your money
Great at taking your money, but after that just don't give a damn. So if you are foolish enough to use this company hope that nothing goes wrong because if it does you are on your own. Don't whatever you do use their preferred insurance company Ergo (formerly ERV) and do check the details of any flights to ensure that the cost is refundable in an emergency (see Air Canada).
